RamblerAndWanderer

Salam & g’day! I’m RaW! ;-)

Yes, I go by that name, RaW. It's my initials and also the initials of this blog. :)

I’m a self-proclaimed artistically-inclined serial wanderer/ immigrant/ traveller probably in every sense of these words (hah!), having inherited them traits from both my parents' sides. A Malaysian, I have been to quite a few countries so far for leisure travels, and have also had the pleasure of spending almost 1/3 of my life living and working in 3 different countries, apart from in my own home country.

Needless to say, I love to ramble and wander, and take photos. Sometimes, I might blog about them here. I also love to share other travel-related articles and great airfares, especially for flights out of Malaysia and Singapore, on my Facebook page.

This blog, Ramble and Wander, is...

... the result of a few friends who had somewhat relentlessly encouraged me to share some of my travelling with our circles of friends and their circles of friends and their circles of friends...

First started in 2011 just to share personal travel photos and experience, the blog has evolved over time to further include itineraries, travel anecdotes and musings, hotel and destination reviews, interviews and guest posts, and a few other things in between. And in the process, it has managed to win some awards and recognition too. :-)

The logo, which I came up with in May 2014, consists of the name of the blog and a rectangle which could also double up as a photo frame or a box. The photo frame signifies that the blog could be more (travel) photo-based at times rather than just mere ramblings of words. The word “and” inside of the “box” whilst “ramble” and “wander” appearing outside of the box as a whole means that my travels could be both in and outside of the box, i.e. covering both typical tourist spots as well as off the beaten paths or something different altogether. There is no pretence about being either a tourist or a traveller here. I just like to travel, to ramble and wander.

Ramble
- to walk for pleasure, especially in the countryside

Wander
- to walk slowly around or to a place, often without any particular sense of purpose or direction
- to move away from the place where you ought to be or the people you are with

These two words pretty much sum up the way I travel most of the times, which is without much of an itinerary as I’d rather just go with the flow. The fact that the initials of these words (together with the “and”) when used as the blog’s name are the same with my own initials is just a bonus, heh! ;)

The photos...

... unless otherwise noted, are all taken, and thus 100% owned, by myself. They are mostly unedited apart from some cropping and watermarking work. Their size have also been greatly reduced (from the original >5MB each to less than 200kb in size) for the purpose of this blog, and thus the quality would have been reduced too.

If you somehow happen to be interested to use any of the photos, just email me for further details.

Oh yeah, I also share more travel photos on my Instagram if you'd like to check them out. Some of them have been picked up and featured by Lonely Planet (LP1LP2LP3LP Blog), CNN (CNN1 & CNN2) and BBC Travel (BBC1 & BBC2), among others.
